Fences
Often overlooked as an integral part of the overall garden design, fencing has the potential to extend or decrease the visual impact of your garden. In tiny gardens we sometimes simply paint the fencing to give the illusion of more space. Often you don’t own all the fences around your plot, and paint or trellis may be the only way to give a uniform texture and colour.
Fencing can also form pockets of interest by making you walk round something to enter a different area of the garden. It can screen off ugly features, compost bins or old garden sheds, a view you don’t like, a difficult neighbour! It can complement arches and pergolas, or decking. Paint can be matched to wall colours or contrast them to create areas of interest.
